Aiways U5 is a newcomer to the 100% electric SUV segment. This is absolutely amazing, the Chinese car market is expanding in Europe right? Anyway, that’s Aiways’ intention with its great electric SUV, the U5. At 4.68 meters (the size of a Peugeot 5008, for example), low price, and updated technology, the Aiways U5 has many arguments to offer. But what is it really worth to be behind the wheel? Our journalist Julián Marcos got in to make the first contact.
Onboard this large electric SUV from 42,000 euros with a sophisticated finish, the equipment is very complete. Everything is digital (sometimes hyperbolic) and most of all the habitability is excellent, especially in the back. The materials lack quality, even if the accessories are serious.
Aiways U5 Electric Motor
With a top speed of 150 km/h and Acceleration from 0 – 100 km/h in 7.5 sec, the motor weighs 140 kilos, it has integrated on the front axle, and, it is coupled to a fast-charge battery pack of 63 kg water, Charging power will decrease significantly after 80% state-of-charge has been reached, which promises more than 400 km of autonomy range in cycle WTP and 188 kWh/100 km efficiency. At this level, the recharging of the hatch is located on the calanque.
We just press and we have a combo connector, so that accepts up to 90 kilowatts in the direct current and up to 6.6 km in alternating current at the level of the trunk. We have a nice cargo space of 432 liters.
Some shortcomings in this first model vehicle SUV of the brand sold here should be noted, such as B, the handling without a certain subtlety. Overall, however, this first attempt appears to be successful while you wait to get to know Aiways U5 better. The electric car already offers a very attractive price point that will attract more than one vehicle.
