On the Laguna Seca race course, the first Tesla tri-motor flies.

The Tesla Model S Plaid is currently the world’s fastest production electric vehicle, and recent track laps in Laguna Seca, California, show that even the most powerful exotics are trying to keep up with the Plaid.

Unplugged Performance previously released footage in which the Plaid Tesla dominates a McLaren P1, McLaren Senna, and Porsche 991 GT3 RS, and now we can see how easily a Lamborghini Huracan can be overtaken in a Model S Plaid.

One thing to keep in mind is that Randy Pobst’s Tesla is a stripped-down model with some modifications. All superfluous items have been removed, and the car now has slicks and a wing.

We are certain that advancements in battery technology (4680 packs, structural packs, and newer chemistries) will be sufficient to effectively lift the threshold later this decade.
